SAFE CONTACT CERTIFICATION & OFA REGISTRATION

MANDATORY FOR ALL BENGALS COACHES

As per Football Canada, as of March 31, 2017, all member coaches must be Safe Contact trained in the latest safe blocking and tackling techniques in order to step out onto the field. The requirement applies to any coach of an amateur team or club that falls under Football Canada’s umbrella.

An integral part of Football Canada’s National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP), Safe Contact teaches safe tackling techniques that emphasizes making contact with the chest and front shoulder and not the head. It emphasizes a blocking technique that stresses making primary contact with the hands.

HOW TO BECOME SAFE CONTACT CERTIFIED

1. Take the online course “Making Head Way in Football”, an e-learning module available through coach.ca’s “the locker”. This is an online course and is a MANDATORY requirement for all coaches in Ontario.

It is of critical importance is that coaches report their completion of the course. To report training completed, please email your Head Coach or the Vice-President of Football Operations.

2. Attend a Safe Contact Session. The Orléans Bengals have already held a session therefore it will be up to individual coaches to find a Safe Contact session to attend. If you need assistance in finding a session, please contact your head coach who will direct you to the appropriate resource.
